Underwater Camera Quick Care Guide
Read Before First Use
Your underwater camera operates in a harsh, chlorinated environment. A few simple habits will dramatically extend its life and reliability.
Daily Use Essentials
Rinse camera and cable with fresh water after every practice
Fully air dry before storage
Never pull the camera out of the pool by the cable
Do not allow swimmers to push off of or hang on the camera
RJ45 Connector Care
Your system uses an exposed RJ45 Ethernet connector, which is the most sensitive part of the system.
Always keep the RJ45 connector off the pool deck
Use protective caps whenever the connector is not connected
Plug connectors in only when completely dry
Avoid unnecessary plugging and unplugging
Dielectric Grease Required
We strongly recommend dielectric grease for all RJ45 connections.
Apply a light coating to:
The RJ45 plug on the camera cable
The RJ45 port on the network switch or PoE injector
Important:
Use a very small amount
Never apply to wet connectors
Do not pack grease into the connector
This helps prevent corrosion and connection failures.
Storage Guidelines
Store equipment dry and capped
Use loose cable loops
Keep equipment away from chlorine and chemical rooms
Stop and Contact Support If You See
Corrosion or discoloration on connector pins
Intermittent or lost video signal
Visible damage to the cable or connector
Continuing to use damaged equipment can cause permanent failure.
Pro Tip for Coaches
Underwater cameras are performance equipment.
Two minutes of care after practice can add years of reliable use.
Educate your athletes the importance of maintenance and care of performance equipment.
