Modified on Tue, 24 Feb at 3:30 PM

1. What is the Video Clipping feature?

The Video Clipping feature allows you to create short clips from a live session and download them directly to an iPhone or iPad using the Sideline Scout Viewer App.

Note: This feature requires a local Wi-Fi network. Internet access is not required for clipping or downloading.

2. How do I create a clip during a live session?

  • Tap the Scissors icon to clip the last segment of video (based on your default clip length).

  • Press and hold the Scissors icon to adjust the clip length on demand.

Clip length range: 5 seconds to 5 minutes.

3. How do I download a clip to my iPhone or iPad?

  1. After the clip finishes processing, a QR Code will appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

  2. Open the Sideline Scout Viewer App on your iPhone or iPad.

  3. Ensure LIVE is toggled on (not Scout).

  4. Tap the QR Scan button in the app.

  5. Scan the QR Code displayed on the TV.

  6. The clip will download directly to your device.

4. What if the QR Code disappears?

If the control bar hides the QR Code:

  • Swipe down to bring the controls back and retrieve the QR Code
    OR

  • Open the clip later from the Recordings tab after the session ends.

5. Can I access clips after the live session ends?

Yes. All clips can be accessed later under the Recordings tab.

6. Do I need internet access to use clipping?

No. Internet is not required to create or download clips if all devices are on the same local Wi-Fi network.

Internet is recommended if you plan to quickly share clips via social media or other apps.

7. What are the requirements for downloading clips?

To download clips successfully:

  • The coach or athlete must have the Sideline Scout Viewer App installed on an iPhone or iPad.

  • The iPhone/iPad must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Apple TV.

  • In the Viewer App, LIVE must be toggled on, not Scout.

  • Use the QR Scan feature in the app to scan the code on the TV.

8. What app permissions are required?

The following permissions must be enabled on the iPhone or iPad:

  • Camera Access (to scan the QR Code)

  • Local Network Access (to communicate with the Apple TV)

  • Location Access — “While Using the App” (required by iOS for local network discovery)

If any of these permissions are disabled, clip downloads may not work properly.
